Our Story
Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Exceptional Banknotes, a.k.a. R&G
Banknote, and most recently coolchecks.com started as the world’s
first alternative mail-order personal check company. Mike Zielie, the
founder, came up with the idea while managing a Pizza Joint at the University
of New Hampshire. "I’d go through all these checks, night after
night, with unicorns, puppy dogs and rainbows. They drove me nuts. I thought
it’d be nice if someone could come up with a check with something
interesting on it." But, no one offered anything of the sort. "That’s
when I figured I might be able to make some money doing it." He thought
for sure he was on the fast track toward wealth and fame.

Who
are Rosencrantz & Guildenstern?
Two minor characters in Shakespeare’s "Hamlet." Long story
short, they try to make a quick buck and quickly get in over their heads,
to the point of losing them. The name worked, aside from the fact that
about one in five people know who Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are,
and many that don’t think we are a law firm or something. But, aside
from that small glitch, the name works because the young entrepreneur
thought little of the risks, nor how difficult it would be. So far, we
have managed to avoid the plight of the original Rosencrantz & Guildenstern,
and have had far more fun. One of our customers has a couple of cats named
Rosencrantz & Guildenstern, too. The cats, we hear, are also well.

Personal Message
You can have your own personal message, favorite quote, or even a song
lyric, printed over the signature line of your checks. This option
is free and is as easy as writing your message, (up to two lines with
a maximum of 40 characters and spaces per line), exactly as you wish it
to appear, above the signature line of your voided check, included with
your order.

Duplicate Checks
In addition to single style checks, R&G offers duplicates. Duplicate
style checks differ from single style checks in that duplicates leave
carbonless copies of each check you write, bound into your checkbook.
The carbonless forms offer a space to keep a running total of your account's
balance and serve as a useful reminder, should you forget to accurately
record a transaction in your register.

First Time Orders, New Accounts and Bank Changes
Your first order of R&G Banknotes or any reorder, where the bank account
or bank name have changed, must be ordered by mail. This is
because we need a a hard copy of account documents, (i.e. a check or starter
check) With your new account printed on it to ensure that your new checks
are printed correctly. If you are opening a new checking account,
simply include one of your voided starter checks with your name, address
and identification information you wish to appear, neatly printed
in the upper left hand corner of the check. If you do not have a
deposit slip, one from the bank's counter will do fine.
All reorders that include bank changes must be done through the mail.
If R&G has not made checks for this account, or if there have been
any changes to your account number or routing number, we must see a physical
copy of an updated check, or a MICR spec. sheet, available from your bank.

Change of Address
If you would like a new address or identification information printed
on your checks, simply cross out the unwanted information on your voided
check and neatly print the new information directly onto that check.

Our Mailing Options
R&G offers two mailing options. Bulk Rate mail is already included
in the price of our checks and takes between 4-5 weeks. We also
offer Priority Mail Service. For an additional $4.00, we will send
your checks via U.S. Priority Mail. With this option, your checks should
arrive in approximately 2-3 weeks.

Single style checks are:
$18.00
per box (200 checks)
Duplicate checks are:
$20.00 per box (150 checks)
Address Labels are
$8.95 per book (240 labels w/cover includes shipping)
Shipping prices are:
Bulk mail is already included in the price of checks and takes about 4-5
weeks for you to receive your checks.
Priority
mail is an additional $4.00 and you should receive your order in about
2-3 weeks.

Secure Server
The secure server encrypts the data (scrambles it) as it is transmitted.
When a site visitor is at a secure page, they will see a "lock"
or "key" in the bottom of their browser indicating that the
page is secure.
